Photo Contest Rules:
The Georgia Renaissance Festival’s “Share Your Memories” Photo Contest (the "Contest") is open to ALL photographers at least 18 years of age, except employees of the Georgia Renaissance Festival and the immediate families of such employees. You may submit up to 5 entries per household.
YOUR RIGHTS: You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit -- including ownership if applicable -- other than those rights licensed in the next sentence. By entering the contest, you hereby grant to The Georgia Renaissance Festival (i) a nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and publicly perform the photographs you submit to The Georgia Renaissance Festival, and (ii) the right to use your name, city, state and country of residence in promotions and other publications.
All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified. Multiple exposures that have been combined to produce a single "High Dynamic Range" image are acceptable. Images that do not meet these requirements may or may not be judged at the judging panel's sole discretion.
Photo captions must accompany all submissions, and should include the subject of the image, the approximate date and year the image was taken, and the name of the photographer(s). All photographs will be credited with the caption "© Person's Name." The Georgia Renaissance Festival has final approval of any language that appears on its website with any of the photos and will not promote or endorse third-party products or services.
HOW TO ENTER: Each photo must be submitted electronically by the following method:
To submit your image, you may complete our online submission form and upload your photo after you complete the online submission form.
Photos emailed cannot be attributed to the photographer properly, and therefore will not be considered eligible for the contest.
The Georgia Renaissance Festival reserves the right to upload photos submitted to its public social media sites.
ELIGIBILITY AND JUDGING: To ensure eligibility for the contest, entries may originate in any format -- including, but not limited to digital files, digital prints, color transparencies, color prints, or black and white prints -- so long as they are submitted electronically. Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still maintain the right to grant us a license (see "Your Rights" above). You must be able to disclose when and where the photo appeared previously to The Georgia Renaissance Festival upon request.
Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit. The judges are a panel of creative professionals familiar with photography and the environment of the Georgia Renaissance Festival. They are also responsible for selecting images for various Georgia Renaissance Festival printed and online marketing and membership materials.
The Georgia Renaissance Festival shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judges are final.
DEADLINES: Deadline for submitting entries is 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time on March 1, 2010. Online entries can be uploaded starting 12:01 am Eastern Standard Time on January 15, 2010.
Entrants may be asked to submit a paragraph about the story behind the photo anytime on or after February 1, 2010. Finalists and prize winners will be announced on or before April 1, 2010. The Georgia Renaissance Festival reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
WINNING PHOTOS: The judging panel will select up to 25 photos to be the contest’s Finalists. The judges will select one Grand Prize winner, and that image will be posted on the Georgia Renaissance Festival website.
LEGAL CONDITIONS: By entering this contest, you agree to certain legal conditions.
By entering, participants agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless The Georgia Renaissance Festival, its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, attorneys, agents and representatives, from any and all third party liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the competition (collectively, "Losses"), including without limitation any third party claim for copyright infringement or a violation of an individual’s right to privacy and/or publicity right.
